1) Are You Plugged In?

I’ve noticed that sometimes it gets hot in here. Others have noticed it to. I thought we could be nice and bring in a fan for someone to use.
Could someone please turn on the fan?

(But its not plugged in - not even to the extension cord).

Someone else try to flip the switch again, try it again. That doesn’t seem to be working. Can one of you try to spin it – then maybe it will start up. OK we may have to do it the old way just blow on the blades and see if we can get them to go around. Arrrgh - it just won't work.

Does someone know what this end of the wire is called? (plug) What do you do with it? (Plug it in to the electrical socket – but when they do plug it in to the extension cord - it still won't work. Finally they will discover...

2) Afraid of Being Lost?

Sometimes - I Feel So Small

I recently had the opportunity to take some of my grandchildren to a nearby State park for a few hours. We really enjoyed making some memories, seeing the massive forest and taking some short hikes together.  We climbed up into two really cool lookout towers that were like big cabins. The cabin lookouts were on the top of some high hills. When we climbed to the top floor (only two flights of steps), we could see a long way off. Because this little lookout was on top of a hill, it made it seem like we were even higher up than what we were. There were trees in all directions as far as we could see! We decided that GOD really liked trees! HE sure has made a lot of them!

Can you think of a reason that seeing so many trees might have caused me to have a little fear? I will admit – the thought of one of my grandchildren being lost in those trees did frighten me. I really kept an eye on them as we hiked and I cautioned the kids several times to stay close and not to wander off into the forest.

There was one more tower that the kids wanted to climb before we left the park. It was a fire tower. This tower was certainly more than two floors. In fact, it was about 100 feet from the ground! It was on the highest point in the park too. I didn’t want to climb that high (I had done that a few years ago --- when I was “younger”). The kids insisted that they climb to the top. The sides of the tower stairs had fencing around it so it was safe. I cautioned them to be very careful. I was going to be watching them and talking to them as they climbed. I let them climb all the way to the top landing by themselves.

I could hear them as they climbed. It was fun listening to them describe how high they were and what they could see. Mostly they saw...

4) Lights, Camera, Action Bible Skits

Review:
The students really liked performing it [Lights, Camera, Action] for our Junior School. I thought it was great to have a skit that was solidly grounded in Biblical facts, was entertaining for kids and gave lots of ideas for props and costumes - all the things a Christian teacher wants in a Bible skit.

So thank you for this resource,
Julia S. - Kids Club Ministry

Review:
The kids LOVED it! One girl brought two friends for the entire year!! One of her guests was totally unchurched and knew nothing about Jesus or the Bible. She had never heard of words like disciples, parable, etc. She begged her mom, whom I’ve never met, to let her skip volleyball so she could be there for the Jesus rising from the dead drama!

The kids whipped up crazy and sometimes a little outrageous ideas for the stories. We had a fan whipping a plastic blue table cloth across the floor for the calming of the storm. We had a spray bottle for the baptism of Jesus. Our music guy offered to cut down an old stage piece to a shorter height (only 5 inches) so we had an actual stage. One of our properties guys went to Lowe's and spent $12 on an 8’x4’ piece of dry erase board and mounted it on the wall so the kids could draw scenery behind the stage.

We were the only class (grades 4-6) that maintained perfect attendance all year. Praise the Lord!

I was given one of those VHS camcorders (the size of a small suitcase--ha) so we recorded all of the skits on a VHS tape and then at the end of each drama we turned off the lights and popped the tape in the VHS players on our TV. I think the kids liked this part the best.

I went to Goodwill and stocked up on bathrobes, white lace curtains (used for everything from angel costumes to heavenly clouds), and scarves.

I loaned out the tape to the kids during the week so they could play it at home. They wanted to show it to the congregation and/or adult Bible class. I opted to play it during our Easter breakfast so people could watch it at their leisure.

Thanks for this great resource! It has reached 6-10 kids during the past two years and introduced one little girl to Jesus for the first time in her life.
