Crafts to Recycle, Reuse, RepurposeBeverage Coasters: "Resting in Jesus"
Supplies
* Hard plastic lids from jars such as peanut butter or Mayonnaise. * Decorative glass stones that look like melted marbles.
Instructions
1. Wash and dry lids after removing the liner inside.
2. Prepare the plaster when the students are present and ready to assemble the coasters (or use ready-mix).
3. Spoon plaster into the up-turned lids. Smooth flat.
4. Have students drop the stones into the plaster one at a time, with the flat side up.
Application "Come to me all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." A visual reminder that we may rest in Jesus' care, like our beverages rest on the coasters. (Matthew 11:28)
Bottle Caps
This is a great idea to share--better than those plastic clips! Good for us and the environment too.
Incision cut RIGHT AT the NECK.
Pull the plastic bag through the NECK of the bottle.
Fold bag over lip of the bottle, then close off with the lid.
Discard the remainder of the bottle in the recycling bin, or save it for another project.
"Jesus is the Rock" - Paperweight
Use the same process as the "Beverage Coaster" craft above, but this time use small river rocks or pebbles. You can form a cross at the center, see above, or use a heart cookie cutter rather than a lid to fill with plaster and rocks, see below.

Jesus holds us firmly in place. We must build our lives on Jesus and his teachings. If we trust in anyone or anything else, we will crumble and fall like a house that isn’t built on a strong foundation.
