Who Will Save Us?

Many people today are desperate for justice to be meted out in our government. We are sick of the double standards and of politicians running criminal enterprises, colluding with big media and big pharma to line their pockets, and never having to answer for their crimes. We look for leaders who will set our country right and who will bring these people to justice. Many believed Trump would do this. Many are looking for another leader to do this.

I often wonder, is this how first century Jews felt about the evil Roman government? They were waiting for the Messiah to come and set things right. They were looking for him to save them from all the injustices of their day. So when Jesus finally did arrive, rather than see he came to save them from a far greater enemy—sin and death—many rejected him. They didn’t see the bigger picture of what God was accomplishing, so they rejected Jesus as the Messiah. 

Beloved, let us not make the same mistake. Let us keep looking to Jesus, the Author and Perfecter of our Faith, and know that he is in control, even when we can’t see the bigger picture and everything seems out of control. Let us continue praying that God’s will is done on earth as it is in Heaven. Let us continue praying against demonic forces, and let us continue doing what we can in our sphere of influence to bring God’s message of peace to our world. 

"Let us not grow weary in doing good, for in due time we will reap a harvest if we don't give up" Galatians 6:9.
