Serve One Another in Love
Bible Game for Children's Ministry
Objective
To learn the meaning of the imperative from the Prayer of
Jesus, "Thy Kingdom come; thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven."
To serve one another in
love.
Set Up
Establish a large playing area. Each player or team will need small plastic or wooden
trays, pitchers of water, and small disposable cups. Place the pitchers of water
and cups at the opposite end of the playing area, opposite the start line. At
the start line you will need a tray for each team.
How To Play
Divide players into teams. Teams line up at the start line. At the go, first player on each
team races
with their tray to the opposite end of the field, fills a cup with water,
places it on their tray, and races back to their team line to serve the cup of
water to the teammate who is waiting for his or her turn. The waiting player must drink the
cup of water, set the cup aside, and race with the tray to the
opposite end of the field to pour another cup of water, and then race back to
serve the next player in line. Play
continues like this until all the players have had a turn running AND drinking a
cup of water. During play, players must not hold the cup. If a cup spills the
player must return to the team's pitcher of water to refill it before returning
to their team line to serve it up.
Discussion
How is God's will done on earth as it is in Heaven? God's will is done on earth
when we love one another. Jesus said, "A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another" John 13:34-35
(ESV).
Jesus also said, "Whoever would be great among you must be your servant . . . even as the Son of Man [Jesus] came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many" Matthew
20:26-28 (ESV).
God's children bring God's kingdom to earth when we represent Jesus well to
others with our actions and our words.
